Helen V. Herman

Helen Herman, age 91, of Sebewaing, passed away at her home on Friday, May 30, 2014.

She was born September 19, 1922 in Sheridan Township, Huron County, Michigan. She was the daughter of Polish immigrants, the late Peter and Mary Pluta. She married Edgar Herman in 1939. Helen worked at Sportman's Bar in Sebewaing and at Scenic Convalescent Home in Pigeon. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing where she enjoyed helping with funeral luncheons.

Helen is survived by her children: Marie Kindler of Sebewaing, Ronald (Catherine) Herman of Bay City and Michael (Deborah) Herman of Sebewaing; Eleven grandchildren: Lorrie (Allen) Sakon, Scott (Gloria) Gainforth, Rod Gainforth, Roxane (John) Schlund, Lee (Jenny) Gainforth, Lief Herman, Lance Herman, Lisa (Kevin) Smith, Julie (David) Mammel, Michael (Tracy) Herman and Matthew (Sarah) Herman; Nineteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, who affectionately call her Busia; one sister, Clara Story; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her five brothers: Steve, Stanley, Edward, Joseph and Daniel Pluta; three sisters: Mary Mironuk, Bertha Wiech, Stella Ludwing; and great grandson, William Gainforth.

Her greatest joy has always been being with and helping her family. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, refinishing furniture, painting, varnishing, gardening, canning and cooking Polish foods.

Visitation is Monday, June 2, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, in Sebewaing, from 2-8pm.

The funeral service is Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will take place immediately following the service at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
