Helen Jagosz of Caro, age 94, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. Helen was born July 11, 1918 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Anthony & Katherine (Stec) Tofilski. Raised in Detroit, she was educated at Resurrection Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph Academy of Detroit in 1937. Helen was united in marriage with Edward Jagosz on October 8, 1947 in Detroit, and the couple has cherished more than sixty-five years together. She retired from the Detroit Teachers Credit Union where she served as a manager. Helen was a member of the Polish National Alliance and was treasurer of the Womens Division on the state level. She was also active in the First Brigade, a local lodge of the Polish National Alliance. Helen was an active member of the Outer Van Dyke AMVETS Post Auxiliary as an officer, was a member of the Caro American Legion Auxiliary Unit #7 and a former member of the Caro Knights of Columbus #3224 Womens Auxiliary. Helen will be best remembered as a loving wife and mother, always ready for the next adventure. She was an avid traveler, and enjoyed reading about and planning the next trip with family and friends. She was not afraid to try new things, especially unique food and restaurants. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden at home and reading. Helen is survived by her husband, Edward Jagosz of Caro; her two children, Thomas Jagosz and his wife, Fumiyo, and two granddaughters, Mayabeth and Emmianne, all of Manhattan, Kansas; and Karolyn Jagosz-Stokley and her husband, John of Longs, South Carolina; step-granddaughter, Heather Rice and her husband, Matthew and their children, Alex, Ben and Grace, all of Macomb; and one sister, Dolores Furesz and her husband, Walter of Mancelona. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Final Commendation to Helen will be offered by the Caro American Legion Auxiliary Unit #7 immediately prior to the service. Burial will follow at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will take place at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Orchard Lake Schools, SS.
