Helen M. Maciejewski, age 94 years, of Caro, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. The former Helen Bennick was born on June 14, 1914 in Detroit to the late Michael and Antoinette (Kapusta) Bennick who were Caro residents. Helen married Edward Wasielewski on May 12, 1934 and he preceded her in death in July of 1960. Helen then married Anthony Maciejewski on September 21, 1968 and he preceded her on January 20, 1982. With the exception of a few years living in Bay City, she was a lifelong resident of Caro. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Chapter 940, Women of the Moose. She was a strong mother, homemaker and for a number of years a single parent. Despite a lack of interest in sports, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play. Helen loved to cook and had taken up embroidery. She is survived by one son and three daughters, Robert (Carol) Wasielewski of Vassar, Arlene (Leroy) Hoag of Vassar, Onaleigh (Donald) Andrews of Brighton and Sylvia Putnam of Vassar; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Bennick and Peter Bennick of Caro; a brother-in-law, Ted Stanislawski of Caro; sister-in-law, Louise Bennick of Beaumont, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings and spouses, Walter Bennick, Steve and Phyllis Bennick, Walter and Mary Nowakowski, Paul Bennick, Clarence and Anna Brigham, Rose Stanislawski, and Angeline Bennick. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John Ladd officiating. Pallbearers for Helen will be her grandsons, Ed Wasielewski, Eugene Wasielewski, Charles Hoag, Lane Hoag, Brent Hoag, Douglas Andrews and Steven Andrews. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Catholic Masses.
