Helen Monkowski

Helen H. Monkowski of Caro, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Helen was born March 26, 1926 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Francis & Sophia (Michalski) Monkowski. Most of her life was spent in education and hospital laboratory work in Michigan and Illinois. Helen came to Tuscola County in 1993 following her retirement. She was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro, where she served as a lector. She was also active in senior activities and served as secretary of the S.A.L.T. Council in the TRIAD of Tuscola County. Helen never married and was the last of her family. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Monkowski in 1982 and her sister, Cecilia Sophia Monkowski in 1986. In keeping with Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro at a later date.
