Helen Poppy of Caro, age 94, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Helen was born February 27, 1926 in Caro, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Kreps) Asperger. She was united in marriage with Kenton Poppy on August 16, 1944 in Caro and he preceded her in death. Helen was employed in the office and as a retail clerk for J.C. Penney for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and enjoyed crocheting, dancing, yard sales, shopping, traveling and going to casinos. She is survived by four children, Boyd Poppy and his wife, Karen, of Saginaw, Dean Poppy of St. Louis, Sandra Goodrich of Fairgrove, Tina Fluette and her husband, Edwin of Antelope, California; five grandchildren, Sarah Poppy, Suzanne Kanine, Greg Richmond, John Fluette and Joel Fluette; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Jackson and Addison Kanine. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. A private family service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steel officiating. Burial will be at Columbia Township Cemetery (Graf Road). Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
