Helen M. Schultz

Helen Marguerite Campbell Schultz, age 92, of Colfax Twp passed away Friday morning, April 7, at Sunny Acres Nursing Center.
She was born August 18, 1913 in Chandler Twp at the home of her parents the late Duncan N. and Laura (Stewart) Campbell.
Helen graduated from Elkton High School in 1932, as valedictorian of her class.
On August 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to Munro S. Schultz in Monroe, MI.
In 1935, She graduated from the Kalamazoo State Hospital School of Nursing with a Diploma Degree. Her nursing career started in Detroit as a staff member of East Side General Hospital. Then as a private duty nurse in many hospitals and homes from 1935 to 1941. She was employed at Hubbard Hospital, Bad Axe from 1945 to 1965, first as a staff nurse then for 15 years as the operating room supervisor. In 1965, the Schultz’s built Sunny Acres Nursing Center in Colfax Twp. the center is now carried on by their daughter, Patricia Patterson, RN, her husband, Donald and their son, Michael, who is administrator of the facility. Munro preceded her in death February 7, 1981 in Clearwater, FL.
Helen attended the Elkton United Methodist Church, was a life member and past Worthy Matron of the Elkton Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #431. She was also a member of the Happy Holiday China Artists Club in Holiday FL, the Caseville Retirement Club and the Tip of the Thumb Dance Club of Bad Axe. She enjoyed her many friends and their happy hours together with cards and dancing. She loved and was proud of all her family members.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Donald) Patterson of Colfax Twp., and Kay (James) McCormick of Clearwater, FL; two granddaughters, Tammy Elenbaum of Caseville and Laura McCormick of Clearwater, FL; two grandsons, Michael (Gina) Patterson of Colfax Twp. and Dr. Robert McCormick of Harrisonburg, VA; seven great grandsons, Travis, Brandon and Josh Elenbaum, Ethan Patterson, Drew, Sam and Will McCormick; one great granddaughter, Nicole Patterson and a great great grandson, Blain Elenbaum.
Preceding her in death, were two brothers, Don and Neil Campbell and her sister, Fern English.
A celebration of her life will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, April 10, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor will officiate with burial in Colfax Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Sunday and at the church after10:00 AM Monday.
