Helen S. Stachura

Helen S. Stachura of Cass City, age 90, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City. Helen was born to Frank & Louise (Lemanski) Grzebski on April 10, 1926 in Ubly, and resided there until her family moved to Cass City when she was a teenager. She was united in marriage with the love of her life, John Frank Stachura, on July 6, 1946 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Detroit, and the couple celebrated fifty years of marriage before John's death in 1996. John and Helen moved to Centerline shortly after their marriage, and were active members of St. Clement's Catholic Church there. The couple returned to Cass City following John's retirement in 1985. Helen's working career was spent as a licensed cosmetologist and instructor at St. Clair County Community College. She faithfully cared for her loving brother, Marvin Grzebski, and mother- and father-in-law in their failing health. The name Helen is Greek in origin and is translated as "shining light." She lived up to her virtuous name by acting as a light to the many angels that cared for her at Northwood Meadows and Compassus Hospice. Their tireless love made Helen feel very special. Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Delphine Peters and Sharon Bednar; sisters-in-law, Helen Stevens, Angelina Stachura, Helen Stachura; niece, Georgia Bednar; great-nephew, Marvin Bednar; many other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Timothy & Bonnie Nakoneczny, Pete & Karen Cody. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and her brother, Marvin Grzebski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Wilmot. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass at 4:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Northwood Meadows or Compassus Hospice.
