Helen M. Stilwell, 85, of Caseville, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Brian’s House in Bay City.
Helen was born December 18, 1925 in Keego Harbor to the late Arthur and Genevieve (O’Rourke) Vorhes. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1943. In 1946 she married James Stilwell and they were married for 33 years before separating. James preceded her in death in 1991.
In 1979 she moved from Auburn Hills to Caseville. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Caseville Eagles Auxiliary. She was well known for her baking, especially her sticky buns. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her brother Ronald.
She is survived by her children Vicki Wolters of Swartz Creek, Linda (Steve) Kleinert of Virginia, Jim of Auburn Hills, Ron of Florida, Allan of Lincoln, and Michael (Janet) of Burton; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Harriet (Everett) Gauthier of Lincoln and Barbara (Jack) Shaw of Florida; and brothers Arthur (Joyce) and Ronald Vorhes, both of Florida.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am Saturday until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to the Caseville School Boosters or the Disable American Veterans.
