Henry William Dion, age 90, of Caseville, died January 21, 2012 in St. Augustine, Florida of a heart attack.
He was born April 28, 1921 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late William and Annette Dion. He graduated from Assumption High School, Worcester. He went on to obtain a Bachelors in Chemistry from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, and a PhD. in Chemistry from Clark University in 1948.
On June 15, 1946 he married Noella Belisle in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. In 1948 the family moved to Detroit where he worked at R.P. Scherer for 2 years before moving to Parke-Davis in Detroit. He retired in 1983 as the Director of Antibiotic and Chemotherapy Research from Parke-Davis/Warner-Lambert. He moved to his summer house on Sand Point in 1984. He loved gardening (especially tomatoes) and the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Cross Alumni Assoc. and the American Chemical Society.
He is survived by his wife Noella; daughter Suzanne (Bill) Wales of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Kristen (John) Reale of Oak Park, IL, Katherine (Tim) Knapp of Chicago and Megan Wales of Chicago; great-grandchildren Francesca, Luke and Caitlin Reale; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Albert and sister Yvonne Ducharme.
Memorial mass 11:00 am Friday, February 3rd at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon.
