Henry J. T. Farver age 90 of Elkton, died Tuesday morning, December 12, at Home Sweet Home in Pigeon.
He was born October 5, 1916 at the home of his parents the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Nelson) Farver in Chandler Twp.
Henry grew up on a farm and in 1942; he joined the US Navy serving on the USS California and the USS Thetis Bay in the Asiatic Pacific. He returned to Elkton in 1945 and on August 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Steinman Schaaf at the First Methodist Church in Pigeon. Henry lived and farmed in Chandler Twp. all his life. He had also worked at Alton Manufacturing in Pigeon for 15 years.
He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, the Carpenter-Dorsch VFW Post #6013, Elkton and enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing.
Surviving are five sons, Thomas (Janette) Farver of Elkton, Glen (Ardra) Schaaf of Pigeon, Leo (Patricia) Schaaf of Greensboro, NC, Carl (Georgia) Schaaf of Beaufort, SC, and Berten Schaaf of Millington; his daughter-in-law, Mary Popham of Bad Axe; ten grandchildren, Tom (Lynn) Farver and Tanette Farver, John (Debbie) Schaaf, Becki (Paul) DiPasquale, Angie (Jason) Lewis, Lesley (Justin) Lang, Scott (Elizabeth) Schaaf, Courtney Schaaf and Nathan Schaaf, Ryan (Julia) Schaaf. Also surviving are ten great grandchildren, TJ, Shelby and Brady Farver, Zachary and Benjamin Schaaf, Madeline and Jenna Lang, Will Schaaf Alexis and Samantha Schaaf; two brothers, Floyd Farver of Elkton and Clifford Farver of Oak Beach and three sisters, Flossie Maynard of Pinnebog, Luella Connors of Filion and Ulla Snider of Bad Axe.
Preceding him in death were four sisters, Bertha Gilbert, Bessie Furness, Helen Wichert and Lila Wilson and a brother, Charles.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. David Collins, pastor will officiate with burial and military honors at Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday and at the church after 1 PM Saturday.
Memorials may be given to the church or the American Diabetes Assn.
