Herbert Thompson

Herbert Thompson, age 67 years, of Caro, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw. He was born on February 23, 1938, in Bay City. Herbert Thompson and the former Joann Schulte were united in marriage on June 30, 1956, in Bay City. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Herb owned and operated Thompsons Auto Glass and Collision in Caro for many years, along with being an insurance adjuster. Upon his retirement, he was very active in making and selling stained glass articles, operating Sonshine Studio. He was a member of the Caro Church of the Nazarene, as well as the Caro Rotary and Lions Clubs. The Thompson family wants to make specific mention of the wonderful care given by St. Marys of Michigan, 6 ICU. Herb is survived by his wife, Joann Thompson; his children, Randy (Laurie) Thompson of Caro, Sharon (Kim) Ball of Caro, Linda (Tom) DeGrow of Midland and Richard (Dianna) Thompson of Caro; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; two brothers, Eugene (Barb) Thompson of Essexville, Edward (Pat) Thompson of Arizona; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank and Jennie Thompson, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Thompson. Funeral services will be held at the Caro Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul McNett officiating. Military honors will be afforded by the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 at the interment in Juniata Township Cemetery (Watrousville). The Thompson family will receive visitors at Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
