Howard Roy Beardslee

Howard Roy Beardslee of Caro, age 84, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 15, 2024 at his home. Howard was born February 16, 1940 in Caro and graduated from Kingston Agricultural School class of 1956. On August 10, 1962, he married the former Judy Kevelighan and the couple was blessed with four children: Julie, Shari, Brent, and Darrin. Howard dedicated forty-four years to Michigan Sugar Company, starting in 1958 and retiring in 2002. Beyond his work at the sugar factory, Howard was a devoted farmer, volunteered at track meets, and was a member of the Caro Community Schools school board. In his spare time Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and had a remarkable knack for fixing almost anything. Howard’s deep faith and love for God were reflected in his devotion to his family, friends, and neighbors.

Howard is survived by his wife of over sixty-one years, Judy Beardslee and his children: Julie (Mark) Hilligoss, Shari Beardslee, Brent Beardslee, and Darrin (Lisa) Beardslee. His grandchildren: Alyssa (David), Andrea (Elvis), Arika, Jeffrey, Alaina, Hayden, Camden, McKenna (Corey), Leyton, Sierra, Inman, Abrielle, Brenna, Bennett, three great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Joye (Sutherland) Beardslee; his sister, Dorothy Sanchez; and a grandson, Austin Hilligoss. He will be greatly missed but held forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Caro Community Schools Auditorium, 299 North Hooper Street, Caro, MI 48723. Howard’s family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the school auditorium on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to a scholarship fund in Howard’s name, c/o Judy Beardslee, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
