Howard Schweitzer

Howard Schweitzer, age 82, of Caseville died Monday evening, January 5, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
He was born February 20, 1921, in Fair Haven Twp., to the late Arthur and Minnie (Symon) Schweitzer.
Howard served in the US Army during WWII in Europe. Shortly after his return to Bay Port he established and opened Bay Port Scrape Yard, a business he operated for over twenty years. During that time he became a commercial fisherman in the waters off of Bay Port. Even after retiring from the fishing industry, he continued fishing, although his health prevented him from going on the water, he could be found parked next to Mud Creek tossing a line out the car window.
Surviving are three sons, LeRoy (Arlene) of Sebewaing, Dennis (Sue) of Bay Port, and Jerry (Tammy) of Caseville; two daughters, Judith (Robert) Gravelle of Sterling Hts, and Kay (Bob) Christner of Imlay City; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Gus Schweitzer of Bay Port; and his sister, Isabelle (Armond) Herford of Elkton. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Gravelle; a brother, Richard Schweitzer; and a sister, Ruth Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 9, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville. Rev Alger Lewis will officiate with burial in the Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
