Hubert Terbush

Hubert TerBush of Watrousville, age 86, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Hubert was born February 10, 1933 in Mayville, the son of the late Fay and Irene (Lumley) TerBush. He was a graduate of Mayville High School, Class of 1951, where he was an All Star athlete. Hubert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was united in marriage with the former JoAnn McLaughlin on June 22, 1957 in Mayville, and she preceded him in death on May 29, 1977. Prior to his marriage, Hubert grew up on a dairy farm where they also had horses, and then worked at Fisher Body in Flint where he hung doors and was a metal finisher fixing dents in car bodies. Hubert then moved to Buick City working on doors off-line, retiring in 1992. He also managed the Akron Farm Bureau Farmers Co-op grain elevator. Hubert enjoyed gardening, his Brittany spaniels, pheasant hunting, bird watching, and the Detroit Tigers. He also loved time spent with JoAnn deer hunting and building the family cabin in McKinley, which holds many fond memories for the family. Hubert is survived by five children and their spouses, Rick & Kathy TerBush of Caro, Dale & Jennifer TerBush of Caro, David TerBush and special friend, Melody Clampitt of Vassar, Kelly & David Duke of Reese, and Lisa Kohl of Caro. He was lovingly known as the "Tootsie Roll Grandpa" or "Papa T" to thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Survivors also include six siblings and spouses, Charlotte Brown of Mayville, Rita & Wayne Rhodes of Fostoria, Rosemary & Jim Freeland of Fostoria, LeRoy TerBush of Vestaburg, Roger TerBush of Mt. Pleasant and Lonnie & Denise TerBush of Mayville; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Juniata Township Cemetery with Rev. Dr. William Sanders officiating. Military honors will be afforded by the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Watrousville United Methodist Church or Compassus Hospice.
