Ila Pearl Greendal, age 104, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Manatee Springs Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bradenton, Florida. She was born December 9, 1903 in Colling, the daughter of the late George Wesley & Grace Almerta (Cook) Colling. Ila graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1922. She was united in marriage with David Byers at the family farm in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1955, after over thirty years of marriage. Ila then married Allan Greendal in 1959. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1982. Ila has spent many years in the Bradenton area, coming back to Michigan often. She was a life member of the Methodist Church, currently a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Bradenton, a life member of Kedron Chapter #33 O.E.S. in Caro, a twenty-five year member of the Manatee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for twenty years with the Red Cross Ila is survived by one niece, Madelyn Metiva and her husband, Leroy, of Caro; one nephew, Richard Colling and his wife, Esther, of Unionville and many great-nieces and great-nephews that include a special great-niece, Janice Vollmar and her husband, David, of Cass City. In addition to her husbands, Ila was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Colling of Unionville.
