Ila Mae Mccallum

Ila M. McCallum, age 79, of Grant Twp. died Friday evening, January 8, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
She was born March 1, 1930, at the home of her parents, the late Clifford and Emma (Gardner) Morley in Oliver Twp.
On February 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Olson McCallum at the Owendale Community in Christ Church. She and Olson had a very loving family, serving as foster parents for many children and adopting three of them. They started the Active Credit Union (now Team One) in the early seventies and ran it out of their home for five years before it was moved into Elkton in the current Huron Youth Center. Olson preceded her in death March 5, 1998.
Ila lived in the Elkton-Owendale area all her life. She was a very active member of the Owendale Community in Christ Church and Women's Group. She was an avid gardener and a member of the National Audubon Society.
Surviving are five children, Larry (Grace) McCallum of Port Austin, Dennis (Elizabeth) McCallum of Houston, TX, Rosie McCallum-Hebert of Grand Rapids, Suzie (Philip) Cochrane of Walkerton, ONT and Michelle (Keith) LaLacheur of Ruskin, FL; nine grandchildren, Scott, Jody, Jennifer, Dalen, Josh, Spencer, Trevor, Sydney and Nathan; five great grandchildren, Austin, Hailey, Haddee, Kara and Eva; three sisters, June Osantoski of Bad Axe, Lucille (Dale) Wells of Lake Odessa, and Shirley (Bob) Sams of Essexville and her brother, Bob (Margie) Morley of Cass City.
Funeral services will be conducted, 1:00 PM Monday, January 11, at the Owendale Community in Christ Church. Elder Ervin Haley, will officiate with burial in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Sunday, and at the church after 12:00 noon, Monday.
