Ila Marie Seurynck

Ila Marie Seurynck, age 99, of Gagetown, peacefully left us on Monday, September 5, 2016, at the Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville.

Ila was born in Unionville on March 10, 1917, the daughter of Alfred and Lottie (Fournier) Goslin. She married Leo J. Seurynck on April 24, 1937, in Gagetown at St. Agatha Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown and active in the Alter society and served in many other roles. She was employed at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City. She loved traveling, especially her trip to Europe with her daughter, Ruth. Ila was known for her "candy" making and was popular during the holidays.

Ila is survived by her children: Ruth (Gary) Cummings of Bay City, Alvin (Lorraine) of Sand Point, Jeannie (Clare) Comment of Sand Point, Mary Lee Houghton of Dallas, TX, Shelly (John) Donaldson of Birmingham; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Helen Wood; brother Patrick (Mary Ann) Goslin; sisters-in-law: Marge Goslin, Eva Goslin, Marie Goslin; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Leo in 2006; her parents, Alfred and Lottie Goslin; son, David F. Seurynck in 2009; granddaughter, Jeannie Murphy; siblings: Dorothy Goebel, Felice Vermeesch, Evelyn Greyerbiehl, Janis Rhodes, Constance Goslin and Marianne Beebe, Aloysius, Harold, Keith and Clarence; brothers-in-law:, Gary Goebel, Leland Wood, Frank Vermeesch, Phil Rhodes and Wayne Greyerbiehl.

Her children and grandchildren loved her for many things, but especially for how she made a difference in the lives of other people. She made our burden's lighter, taught us infinite wisdom, made us laugh, allowed us to cry on her shoulder, lent us her understanding ear…made a difference.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 4-8pm, with a 7pm rosary service.

The funeral mass will be Thursday, September 8, 2016, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of mass at 11am.

Burial will be at St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery in Gagetown.

Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady of Consolata (St. Agatha Women's Society (for supplies for the missions) or food pantry).
