In-Joo Kim was born on December 31, 1969, in Seoul, Korea. At the age of three she was placed in an orphanage. While there, missionaries came to the orphanage and told her about Jesus. They also told her how beautiful the United States was. Having no one else she could trust, In-Joo prayed and asked Jesus to bring her to the United States. Jesus miraculously honored her request and she was brought to America at the age of 10 to be adopted. When she arrived in the United States she was encouraged to choose an American name. She immediately said she wanted to be called Jesus. She was then asked to choose a girls name. Still wanting the name Jesus, she decided on the name Joy. Joy was not just a name, but an acronym for Jesus, Others, Yourself. This name accurately described who Joy was and what she brought into our lives. At the age of 13, Joy heard how Jesus had loved her so much that he died for her sins and provided eternal life for her. At this time she put her total trust in Jesus as her Savior. Even though she was never adopted on this earth, it was at this point she was adopted into the family of God. Joy faced her illness with an unbelievable amount of courage and grace. She often told others she was “going to see Jesus”. Joys desire to see Jesus was granted on May 19, 2006. Joy is preceded in death by like heroes of faith in Hebrews Chapter 11. She is survived by her son, Steven Jacob, and many souls that have been touched by her presence and are forever changed. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church (Discretionary Fund-Joy Kim)
