Irene Jeanet Bolzman

Irene Jeanet Bolzman, age 89, of Sebewaing, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

Irene was born June 1, 1929, on the family farm on Kilmanagh Road in Sebewaing Township, to Daniel and Kathryn (Wivtushinska) Leskowich, the youngest of four children. After graduating from Sebewaing High School in 1947, she married Maurice Bolzman at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh on September 26, 1947. She worked at the Sebewaing Blade Crescent Newspaper for 27 years, retiring as the managing editor. She became the first woman to serve on the Sebewaing Village Council, serving two terms, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on various boards.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Maurice (2012); two brothers: Andrew and Fred Leskowich; and one sister, Frances Quick.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Catherine and son-in-law Myron Lick; son, Ronald and daughter-in-law Adelia Bolzman; grandchildren: Kristin and Anderson Bearden, Renee and Trevor Nicholas, Andrew Lick; great grandchildren: Amelia Bearden and Ethan Nicholas; many special nieces and nephews, including Patricia Brown and Barbara Vargo; sister-in-laws: Ruth and Annabelle Bolzman.

Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-8pm.

The service will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:30am until the time of service at 11:30am.

Burial will take place privately at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Radio Mission Fund.
