Irene M. Dubey

Irene M. Dubey, age 86 of Bay Port died Wednesday evening at Scheurer Long Term Care.
She was born October 5, 1921 in Sherman Twp. near Bad Axe to the late Duncan and Sara (Robinson) Campbell. Irene grew up in the Bad Axe area and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1939.
Irene loved music and had dancing feet which brought her to the Bay Port Hotel in the 1940's. It was there that she met the good looking drummer by the name of Louis "John" Dubey. On August 20 1949, they were united in marriage at Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Sebewaing and, raised their family in Bay Port. She and her husband owned and operated Dubey's Meat Market in Bay Port and also owned Lefty's Diner for a time. During the early fifties and sixties, she was a secretary at the Bay Port School. Irene became a real estate agent and enjoyed her passion for selling real estate for many years, recently retiring for health reasons. John preceded her in death August 20, 1982.
Irene enjoyed music, growing flowers and having pets around; she was a long time member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon and was currently a member at Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Irene loved being with her family especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (James) Stahl of Caseville and Kaye Marion of Bay Port; three grandchildren, Michael (Cathy) Stahl of Granby, CT, Michelle (John) Ausdemore of Scottsdale, AZ and Shannon (Brent) Bowman of Sebewaing; four great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Samantha, Mackenzie and Jake; her sister, Florence (Robert) Swackhammer of Bad Axe; two sisters-in-law, Janette Campbell of Cheboygan and Marcella Campbell of Ubly: two brothers-in-law, Jim Hoeh of Sebewaing and Jim (Diane) Dubey of Pigeon and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Kenneth, Clayton, Grant and W. J. Campbell.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:30 PM Saturday evening, March 1, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor of St. Roch Catholic Church will officiate with burial in New Bay Port Cemetery.
