Irene S. Hunt, age 84, of Pigeon, past away Saturday morning, April 17, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born, October 9, 1925 in Dryden to the late William and Vera (Roth) Farnum.
On Oct 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to George Hunt at the Dryden Methodist Church. Shortly after they were wed, they moved to Pontiac. They also lived in Rochester and Almont for a time. In 1970, she and George purchased Ubly Lumber and moved to Filion. Irene was the bookkeeper/office manager for the business until they retired in 1985. In 1997, they move to Pigeon to be nearer family. George preceded her in death, June 6, 2006.
Irene enjoyed her retirement by growing beautiful flower gardens and bird watching. She was also an avid reader and loved having her children and grandchildren around her.
Surviving are three children, Roger (Nancy) Hunt of Ubly, Kathy (Leonard) Murawski of Sterling Hts. and Sheila (Dave) Mc Bride of Pigeon; six grandchildren, Brenda (Victor) Trpcevski, Heather (Jason) Ross, Amanda (Edward) Chmielewski, Jeremy Hunt, Ryan (Christine) McBride and Brett Mc Bride; four great grandchildren Brendan, Marissa, Mackinzie and Benjamin and her sister, Frances Boomer of Almont.
Preceding her in death were two siblings, William Farnum Jr. and Catherine Farnum.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. All are welcome to share a memory at the service.
