Irene Sophia Koneczny

Irene Sophia Koneczny, age 91, of Caseville, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon of a sudden cardiac arrest.

Irene was born October 12, 1915 in Detroit to the late Walter and Magdelene (Nowakowski) Witkowski. She married Edward F. Koneczny on November 28, 1936 in Detroit. Edward preceded her in death on March 27, 2002.

Irene has lived permanently in Caseville since 1971. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, the St. Roch Women’s Society, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, a charter member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, REAC, and the Caseville Library Club. She enjoyed being active in her community, church and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Edward J. and his wife Geraldine of Oscoda; grandchildren Matt, Marylin, Mitchell, Edward and Douglas; great-grandchildren Justin, Lucas, Lauren, Lyndsay, Joseph, Kelsey, Edward and Anna; and a brother Arthur and his wife Sylvia Witkowski of Canton.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 5th, at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.

Visitaion will be 12:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and from 10 AM Monday until the time of the Mass. There will be at Eagles Ritual at 2PM Sunday and a Rosary at 6PM.
