Irene Frances Smith

Irene F. Smith, age 99, of Caseville, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Irene was born September 24, 1907 in Detroit to the late Valentine and Rose Andrzejak. She married Carl Smith on June 26, 1926 in Detroit. Carl preceded her in death on January 18, 1960.

Irene bought and began spending time at her cottage in Caseville in the early 1960's. She retired permanently to Caseville in 1990. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in her yard and housekeeping.

She is survived by her daughter Doris Nicholl; grandson Joseph and his wife Meg Nicholl; great-grandson Joseph Nicholl II and great-granddaughter Dani Nicholl all of Caseville; and her brother Ernest and his wife Bernice Andrejak of Armada.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Carl, brother Conrad Andrzejak and sister Dorothy Paul.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. Burial will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Roch Food Pantry or the Caseville Community Christmas Fund.
