Irene A Volz age 76, of Owendale passed away early Friday morning, July 29, at Argentine Care Center, Linden.
She was born August 13, 1939 in Birch Run at the home of her parents, the late Walter and Mabel (Bosley) Royalty. At the age of 18 she moved to the Elkton area.
On October 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Albert Volz in Bad Axe and raised their family near Owendale.
Irene was employed at Evens Products in Gagetown for 20 years. After that, she went into serving the elderly. First at Scenic Convalescence Home, Pigeon several years, then at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe in dietary for 9 years, Courtney Manor for five and retired in 2011, from Home Sweet Home, Pigeon after nine years.
She was a member of St Columbkille Catholic Church and loved her birds and her little dog, Riley.
Irene enjoyed reading, playing pool, the lake, fishing and playing with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Ron (Barb) Volz of Sandusky, Brian Volz of Grant Twp and Sherry (Jim) Miller of Pigeon; son-in-law, Conrad Kleinfelt of Bay Port; four grandchildren, Chris Tony, Nick and Matt; great grandsons, Colton and Corban; her sister, Shirley (Fred) Engbloom of Flint and special daughter, Anne Ziel of Oliver Twp.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Sharlene Kleinfelt; two brothers, Eugene and Walter Royalty and her step-father, Conrad Kraatz.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, at St Columbkille Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Sunday and at the church after 10 AM Monday.
