Irvin Edwin Polega, 93 of Caseville died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Huron Medical Center.

Irvin was born on September 18, 1921, at the home of his parents, the late Anthony and Agnes (Rybak/Fisher) Polega in Dwight Township. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific. On June 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Talaski at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rapson. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2003.

He and his wife raised their family on a farm in Bloomfield Township, near Rapson. He enjoyed farming and worked for several local manufactures. In 1977 he retired from farming and moved to Caseville Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, casino trips and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church and the Caseville Eagles Club #3690.

He is survived by four sons, Bernard Polega of New Waverly, Texas, Ronald Polega of Caseville, Melvin (Sandi) Polega of Allegan and Dennis (Laurie) Polega of Kinde; four daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Carpenter of Davisburg, Linda (Robert) Kozfkay of Lexington, Joyce (Paul) Messing of Williamston and Irene (David) Muehlfeld of Cypress, California; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one brother Eugene (Rose) Polega of Port Austin, three sisters Irene Wozniak of Harbor Beach, Grace (Marvin) Zurek of Sand Point and Geraldine Pereny of Land O Lakes Florida and Port Austin, sister-in-law Pauline Polega, and several nephews and nieces.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn, sisters Dorothy (Harold) Sosnoski, Frances (Cass) Lackowski, brothers Albin (Virgina), Frank Polega, and brother-in-laws Michael Pereny, Martin Grifka, Pat Wozniak.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00am Monday, August 24th at St. Roch-OLPH Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial with military honors will be in St. Roch Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8pm Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. He will lie in-state one hour prior to mass in church Monday.
