Isabell Hagen

Isabell I. Hagen, age 88, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. She was born February 27, 1923 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late Angus and Anna (McIntyre) McIntosh. During World War II Isabell filled the role of Rosie the Riveter, making warplanes in Detroit. On February 18, 1950, Isabell was united in marriage with Merrill Hagen in Detroit. She was employed for many years as a playground supervisor for Caro Community Schools. Isabell was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and its Womens Association, as well as being a volunteer at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. In her free time, Isabell enjoyed being with her family and gardening. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of over sixty-one years, Merrill Hagen of Caro; six sons and their spouses, Mike & Vivian Hagen of Midland, David & Mary Hagen of Vassar, Patrick Hagen and his companion, Amy Gierhart of Caro, Gerard & Carol Hagen of Great Mills, Maryland, Gus & Kay Hagen of Omaha, Nebraska, Eric Hagen of Caro; and twelve grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Isabell was preceded in death by one son, Mathew Hagen.
