Isabelle J. Herford, age 87, of Elkton died Tuesday evening, October 18, at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon.

She was born February 5, 1924 to the late Arthur and Mary Etta (Symons) Schweitzer at their home near Bay Port.
On June 6, 1942, she was united in marriage to Armond J. Herford at her parent’s home in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death October 26, 2006.
Along with being a homemaker, wife and mother, Isabelle had worked at Cass City Cable, Scenic Convalescent Home, Huron Medical Care Facility and Laker High School.

She and Armond loved to travel, visiting almost every state and many foreign countries. For many winters, they spent time in the mid Florida area. She also enjoyed visiting and quilting. She had made a quilt for each of her grandchildren for their high school graduation.
Isabelle was a long time member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, serving on many committees and past member of the Shady Lane Farm Bureau.

Surviving are five children, Noreen Bennett of Sand Point, Nola (Cal) Kauffman, Neil (Connie) Herford and Arlin (Sue) Herford all of Elkton and Nan (Keith) Stalter of Bay Port; twelve grandchildren, Amy, Carleen, Angie, Jody, Dan, Steve, Travis, Grant, Christina, Ryan, Scott and Lisa; 23 great grandchildren, Corey, Zach, Taylor, Ben, Cooper, Mallory, Sloan, Will, Turner, Owen, Connor, Lane, Katie, Brad, Jack, Justin, Josh, Wyatt, Josie, Audrey, Tom, Ellie and Luke; a special nephew, Dick (Mary) Schweitzer of Baltimore, MD and many other nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Nancy; a grandson, Chad; her brothers, Gus, Howard and Richard Schweitzer and her sister, Ruth Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, October 22, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Craig Pillow, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.

Friends and family may call for 2 to 9 PM Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
