Iva Jean Brown, 87, of Pigeon, died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Covenant Heathcare/Cooper in Saginaw.
Iva was born April 29, 1931 in Sterling to the late Amos and Ava (Jean) Cummings. She was the valedictorian of Elkton High School in 1949. She married James Brown in March 1952 in Elkton; he preceded her in death in December 1965. She was a longtime and active member of Hayes United Methodist Church and Hayes UMW. She volunteered at Huron County Medical Care Facility and Helping Hands Thrift Store. She was a member of the Pigeon Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her children Mick (Joyce) of Bad Axe, Sandy (Randy) McLean of Pigeon and Robert (Cathy Smukala) of Filion; grandchildren Dan, Kim, Kari, Rhonda, Cory, Casey, Tyler and Madeline; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Doris (Joe) Ruth of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by daughter Patti May and brother Jack Cummings.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Monday, October 29 th at the Hayes United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-6 Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton.
Memorials may be made to the Hayes United Methodist Church or Helping Hands Thrift Store.
