Iva L. Mcalpine

October 9, 1915 — May 21, 2006

Iva L. McAlpine, age 90, of Elkton died Sunday evening, May 21 with her family gathered at her side, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born October 9, 1915 in McKinley Twp. at the home of her parents the late John and Rachel (Oesch) Kipfer.
Iva moved to Canada at two months of age with her grandmother, after her mother died. At age 7, she came back to Huron County living near Linkville.
On March 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to George A. McAlpine at the Owendale Methodist Church.
Iva and George raised their children and worked the family farm near Owendale. He preceded her in death in August of 1950. Later that year she brought her family to Elkton.
Iva attended the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. She enjoyed gardening and canning, but mostly, loved being with her family.
Surviving are her children, Delmar (Marty) McAlpine of Elkton, Charlene (Jim) Trisch of Pickford, Georgeann (Dave) McDowell of Elkton, Sandra (Ron) Brill of Caro, Carol (Bill) Bodziak of Attica, Dave (Hazel) McAlpine of Pigeon and Christina (Steve) Schulz of Owendale; 28 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a step-daughter, Barbara Kundinger of Sebewaing and a son-in-law, David Swiastyn of Grant twp.
Preceding her in death were three children, Delbert McAlpine, Judy McAlpine and JoAnn Swiastyn; a son-in-law, Ronald Marks and to infant grandsons; , her brother,Clarence Kipfer and three sisters, Laura Maust, Flossie Steckley and Katie Shetler.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Daniel Stone, pastor will officiate with burial in Elkland Twp. Cemetery, Cass City. Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 12 Noon Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Community Wesleyan Church or Heartland Hospice.
