Ivan "Butch" Lawrence

Ivan "Butch" Lawrence, Jr. of Caro, age 72, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 at his home. Ivan was born August 6, 1947 in Petoskey, the son of the late Ivan, Sr. and Dorothy (Stiles) Lawrence. He was united in marriage with Darla Violet on September 21, 1974 and the couple has cherished more than forty-five years together. Butch was employed with Modern Prototype in Troy as a sheet metal mechanic. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and passing on his love of those sports. He was always fun-loving and could be counted on to lighten anyone's mood with a joke. He thought of Anchor Cove Church as an extension of his family that he loved dearly. Butch is survived by his loving wife, Darla Lawrence of Caro; four children and their spouses, Thomas Lawrence, Steven Lawrence, Stacy & Chris Pender, Dan & Crystal Lawrence; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings and spouses, Cindy & Keith Holley, Brenda & Kevin Lawrence, Caroline Ince, Denver & Patty Lawrence, Randy Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, and Anchor Cove family. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Rykard, and Veronica Merchant. A private family gathering will be held with burial at East Dayton Cemetery in Caro. A celebration of Butch's life will take place at Anchor Cove Church in Caro and will be announced on this site as information becomes available.
