Ivan Leslie Reamer, age 83, of Caro, passed away on Sunday April 26, 2009 at Tendercare in Cass City. He was born on June 26, 1925 in Pontiac to the late Leo and Mildred (Randall) Reamer. Ivan was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. Upon returning from active duty, he met and married the former June Freeman on September 27, 1947 in Caro. She preceded him in death on August 2, 1989. Ivan worked at Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw until his retirement. He was a life member of Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. Ivan liked fishing and camping, and enjoyed flower gardening and carpentry. In later years, he loved reading and watching wrestling. He enjoyed travel, in earlier years to Florida, and his yearly treks to Mackinaw City; especially the contact and companionship with his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Dennis Reamer of Caro; five grandchildren, Rhonda (Mike) Griffith of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tabitha (Tim) Hartman of Akron, Leslie Alexander of Caro, Melissa (Don) Lawrie of Caro and Phillip Reamer of Caro; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Lelia Kitchen of Caro, Vernita (Ralph) Robison of Caro; his caregivers, Darlene Gusko, Kayla Freeman and Megan Freeman of Caro; his remaining nieces and nephews, as well his cat, “Kitty.” In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Reamer; one daughter, Susan Alexander; and a daughter-in-law, Kristy Reamer. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Demorest Cemetery in Akron under the auspices of Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
