Jack Hiser, age 78, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at St Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born May 17, 1928 in Merrill, MI, the son of the late Henry “Doc” Ruth (Green) Hiser, coming to Caro with his parents as a toddler. Jack was united in marriage to Norma E. Gunsell on September 28, 1946 at the Caro First Presbyterian Church and they were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Jack was a community businessman with many talents and interests. As a young man he worked at the family dairy, an auto dealership, and owned and operated Hiser Auto Glass Collision for 17 years. Jack, with two business partners, built Riverview Mobile Home Park in Caro and owned retail Mobile Home Sales centers in Caro and Vassar. Jack was always building, including three homes and a cottage for he and Norma as well as fine furniture and cabinets for his family and friends. He volunteered his time building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Caro. Jack was an active member, Elder and choir member of the Caro First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Tuscola Skill Center Advisory Board and former instructor there for 10 years, and a former member of the Caro Gun Club, the Jaycees and the Caro Exchange Club. Jack loved to travel the world with Norma, and was an avid hunter and skier. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Norma; three children and their spouses, Terry Bev Hiser of South Bend, IN, Ruthanne David Fobear of Shelby Twp., MI, David Sue Hiser of Caro; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one sister, Irma Moriarty of Palmetto, FL and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Lynn Hiser; three sisters, Delores Whaley, Pauline Shuster and Wanda Burmeister.
