Jack Vincent Muscat of Caseville, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Detroit, on August 30, 1945 the son of the late Emmanuel and Clara (Haggins) Muscat.
Jack met the love of his life, Candy DeMilde, when they were in high school. What began as a young romance grew into a lifelong love, and shortly after Candy's graduation, the two were married on November 21, 1964, in Detroit. Together, they raised three sons who became Jack's greatest pride and legacy. Jack and Candy shared a wonderful life filled traveling, taking drives to watch the sunset, and going dancing together. They also shared a love for bringing happiness to others and, alongside fellow Masons & their wives with Builder’s Lodge #563, helped establish a clown group that entertained children and senior citizens.
He was a hardworking and talented man who took great pride in everything he did. He spent twenty-three years working for the Detroit Tigers as a maintenance supervisor before joining the Birmingham Board of Education as a project manager. After fifteen dedicated years, he retired in 2006. Known as a true jack of all trades, there was very little Jack couldn't do or figure out, he was extremely gifted in knowing how to or figure out anything. His mind was a wealth of knowledge, and he had a natural curiosity about the world around him. He especially enjoyed history, reading about historical events, and the mysteries of Sherlock Holmes. Jack also loved to cook and was always happy to host.
Jack was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Roch Catholic Church, where he was much more than a familiar face in the congregation. He proudly served as a eucharistic minister and the church's handyman, as well as the go-to person whenever something needed fixing or a helping hand was needed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Masonic Temple Lodge 563 for forty-five years, and the Caseville Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Above all else, Jack was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He loved spoiling Candy and found his greatest happiness simply being by her side. Of all his accomplishments throughout life, nothing meant more to him than the family they built together. He was incredibly proud of his three sons and the families they went on to raise. In retirement, Jack especially treasured the opportunity to spend time with his children and their families, making memories and mesmerizing the grandchildren with his magic tricks. His family was truly his greatest accomplishment, and the love and pride he had for each of them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Jack “Nanu” leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Candy; their sons, Michael (Julie) Muscat, Kenneth (Susan) Muscat, and Steven (Leslie) Muscat; grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Matthew, Jennifer, Jordan, and Collin; great grandchildren, Jackson, Noah, Brennan, Milo, Jonah, Ronan, and Lucy; sister, Violet Sewell. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel and Clara Muscat; sister, Emma Jones; and grandson, Michael Lee Muscat.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial mass will be on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. Jack’s family will be present at the church to receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary will be recited in his honor at 10:30 a.m., prior to Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Season’s Change Hospice or St. Roch Catholic Church.
