Jack H. Paul, Sr., 90, of Cottonwood, Arizona, formerly of Pigeon, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Cottonwood Village in Arizona.
Jack was born on September 17, 1927 in Bad Axe to the late “Doodle” and Mabel (Benton) Paul. On March 18, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Jurgess; she preceded him in death June 29, 2006. They were married for more than 56 years and are survived by four children: Jack (Wendy) Paul of Lake Orion, Pattie (Jim) Hammett of John Day, Oregon, Mary (Ric) Hinson of Matthews, North Carolina, and Clare (Amy) Paul of Dayton, Ohio; and five beautiful grandchildren: Amanda, Natalie and Evan Paul, and Hayley and Ashley Hinson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Diana in 2008 and his older brother Harry.
In 1943 Jack graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Tennessee and from there went on to be a WWII Navy Veteran. After serving he came home to work for his father at Paul’s Inc. in Pigeon. After moving to Arizona in 1975 he managed Babbits General Store at Grand Canyon National Park. He loved the great outdoors with a passion for hunting and fishing, and took great pleasure in sharing his many stories with his children and whoever wanted to listen. He also enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables he had grown in his own garden. Jack loved to read from many different genres and watching sports was a favorite pastime. He was a great mechanic and loved restoring old Jeeps or just tinkering with any vehicle that came his way. In all, Jack was a man of many talents, interests and character. He lived a full life and will be surely missed by those who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be 11:00am Friday, May 18 th at Caseville Township Cemetery with military honors. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Caseville American Legion. www.ChampagneFuneralChapel.com
