Jack Robert Sholes

Jack Robert Sholes of Caro, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home. Jack was born December 16, 1956 in Marlette and grew up in Mayville. He was a star cross country runner with Mayville High School, graduating with the class of 1975, and began a nearly twenty-year career with Marlette Oil and Gas as a mechanic. He was later a roller operator for Pro-Line Asphalt until taking a position in 2004 with his son's construction company, Modern Construction, retiring in 2013 due to disability. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and traveling the countryside in his golf cart. He was happiest when with family, especially his grandchildren, and will be remembered as the life of any party he attended. Jack was also an avid U of M football and Detroit Lions fan. Jack is survived by three children and their spouses, Rob & Amie Sholes of Caro, Trent & Theresa Sholes of Caro, Bryant & Stephanie Sholes of Capac; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Jack, Wesley, Colten, Wyatt, Mya, Arabella, and Peyton; siblings, Roger Sholes and his wife, Nancy, of Caro, Barry Sholes of Leland, Melody Sholes of Davison, Joe Sholes of Springfield, Tennessee, Scott Sholes of Caro; many nieces and nephews; best friends, Tom Taylor and Ron Dibble; and his favorite dog, Libby. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, George & Gladys (Lake) Sholes; and five siblings, Patrick Sholes, Gary Sholes, George Sholes, Bill Sholes and Tina Yeager. In keeping with Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jacks life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Rob & Amie Sholes' home.
