Jack L. Tyler

Jack Lee Tyler, age 64, long time Laker teacher, of Elkton went home to be with his Lord, Friday afternoon, November 2, at Scheurer Hospital following a probable massive heart attack.

He was born in Lakeview, on July 23, 1948 to the late Henry and Elsie (Christophersen) Tyler and grew up in the Greenville area.
Jack graduated from Greenville High School in 1966 and Central Michigan University in 1971 with a teaching degree.

On November 22, 1967 he was united in marriage Sandra Wooster at Oakfield Baptist Church in Rockford.
Jack taught four years at Mansfield Schools before coming to Laker School District in 1976. Along with teaching, he coached wrestling, football, softball and volleyball. In 2003, he retired but was still working as a sub when needed.

He was a charter member of Community Wesleyan Church, where he was the church treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He was the secretary/treasurer of the Thumb Area Antique Auto Club and had a strong love for antique cars. For several years he ran the Elkton Autumnfest Car Show and for several years ran a popcorn wagon at Ackerman Memorial Park.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy; children, Tim (Zorayda) Tyler of Lowell, Todd (Rachel) Tyler of Rockford, Trisha (Dave) Rizer of Greenville, Traci (Jason) Randall of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren, Seth, Taran, Tristan, Trey, Trevor, and Troy. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Bonnie Kraft of Lakeview, David (Lisa) Tyler of Gowen; Terry Tyler of Blanchard, Gary Tyler of Blanchard, Dawn (Ron) Ketchum of Mecosta, Wanda (Ron) Palmer of Blanchard, Bev (Darrel) Eldred of Blanchard; sister-in-law, Nancy Tyler of Grand Rapids; mother-in-law Crystal (Norm) Wooster/Davis; brother and sister-in-laws, Sherry (Dick) Miller of Newayo, Elaine (Steve) Jacoby of Gowen, Jim (Lorrie) Wooster of Greenville, Marilyn (Ben) Rees of Greenville, Tammy (Scott) Herron of Stanton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind close family friends, Jane Pawlowski of Elkton and Al and Stephanie Kuhn and their children Collin and Peyton of Pigeon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Clyde Wooster; adopted brothers, Gerald and Marvin Tyler.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, November 5, at Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton with Rev. William O’Nan, pastor officiating.

Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Sunday and at the church after noon Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the Community Wesleyan Church.
