Jacob R. Dasho of Kingston, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Cary’s Young at Heart AFC Home in Caro. Jake was born on Christmas Eve, 1948 in Mt. Clemens, the son of the late Jacob J. & Doris M. (Parsell) Dasho. He grew up in Utica and graduated from high school there in 1968. Jake was united in marriage with Karen Davison on February 21, 1970 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica and the couple has cherished more than fifty-four years together. Jake was a painter for several years before coming to Caro to begin a career in fire suppression with Holloway Fire Protection. Following more than a decade with the company, he set out on his own and created Caro Fire Equipment, retiring in 2018 having served fifty years in the profession. Jake was a member of the Lions Club in Kingston and Caro and held many roles including club president and district governor. He was also an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as a bowling. Jake was a naturally social person and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether meeting someone for the first time or reconnecting with old friends, he always had a story to share, a kind word, or a listening ear.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Karen Dasho of Kingston; one daughter and her husband, Stefanie & Mark Fielder of Caro; two grandchildren, Amanda Dasho and Christopher Fielder, both of Caro; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kingston of Caro; niece and nephew, Jennifer Kaltz and James Kaltz; and brother-in-law, Walter Kaltz. Jake was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Debra Kaltz in 2018.
Jake’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a concluding prayer offered at 5:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the gathering.
