John C. “Jake” Hedley age 89, of Chandler Twp. near Gotts Corner died Thursday evening at his home.
He was born June 19, 1922 to the late Ross and Lena (Krull) Hedley at their home in Chandler Twp. Jake lived and farmed in Chandler Twp. all his life, retiring in 1990.
On May 13, 1961, he was united in marriage to Genevieve M. Inglis in Fairgrove. She preceded him in death January 29, 2008.
Jake was on the Chandler Twp. Board of Review for over 20 years, active member of the Caseville Eagles, a life member of the Hubbard-Winsor Lodge #420 F & AM and has been affiliated with the Caseville United Methodist Church for his life time. He enjoyed gardening, making crafts fishing and hunting but above all loved helping and visiting with people.
Surviving is a step-daughter, Lois Mis of Caro; four step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, one step great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Hudson Hedley and four sisters, Audrey Hedley, Marlene Andres, and Anna Mae Ewald Joan Andersen.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, February 13, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Linda Fuller, pastor of the Caseville United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton for 2 to 8 PM Sunday and after 10 Am Monday.
Memorials may be directed to the Caseville United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
