James Alexander Casey, 84, of Port Austin, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City.
Jim was born January 18, 1933 in Pinnebog to the late James Wm and Gladys (Bushey) Casey. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1951. He married Jean M. Pechette on October 17, 1959 at St. Felix Catholic Church. He worked 31 years for Masey-Ferguson in Detroit. After he retired he moved from Detroit to Port Austin in 1998. He was a member of the Port Austin American Legion, St. Felix Catholic Church and a former member of the U&I Club. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, playing cards and horseracing.
He is survived by his wife Jean; sons James E. of Livonia, John of Port Austin and daughters Catherine of Port Austin and Kelly of Livonia, sisters Donna Jean and Mary Ann both of Redford Township. He is also survived by his beloved basset hound Benny. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Casey.
Funeral services will be 11:00am on Monday, January 8 th at St. Michael Catholic Church, Port Austin with Fr. Craig Carolan presiding. Burial will be in St. Felix Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 7 th from 2-6 at Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton.
Memorials may be made to Thumb Animal Shelter or Solanus Casey Center.
