James Baas

James Baas of Caro, age 90, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. James was born May 29, 1929 in Windsor, Canada, the son of the late Gilbert and Margaret (Rooth) Baas. He was united in marriage with the former Alicelane Boersema on February 26, 1949 at the Berkley Community Church parsonage in Berkley. Alicelane preceded him in death on December 2, 2018. James enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, fishing, and going to the cabin at Canada Creek Ranch in Atlanta, Michigan. James is survived by two children, Mary Siebigteroth and her husband, Pete, of Louisburg, North Carolina, and John Bruce Baas of Washington, Michigan; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Tena Fiebelkorn of Sault Ste. Marie (formerly of Caro). In keeping with James' wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy on May 29, 2020.
