James Babcock

James Babcock of Caro, age 71, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at his home, following an extended illness. James was born November 23, 1946 in Caro, the son of the late George and Esther (Boughan) Babcock. He attended Caro High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. James was united in marriage with the former Ruth Ann Hack on February 26, 1972. He was employed with Michigan Sugar Company, Grede Foundry, and drove bus for Caro Community Schools and the Tuscola Intermediate School District. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering, singing, writing poetry, reading and storytelling. James is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Ruth Ann Babcock of Caro; three children and their spouses, George Babcock of Caro, Tammy & Lawrence Pruden of Big Rapids, Shelly & Elwin Cox, Jr. of Caro; six grandchildren, Andrew Kehr, Abigail Pruden, Cody Putnam, Zachary Putnam, Allison Clouse, Melissa Cox; two great-grandchildren, Paige Kehr and Savanna Kline; siblings, his twin Janet & Russ Bunting, Marion Roberts, Betty & Maurice Rosenberger, George "Sonny" & Jane Babcock; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Babcock; one sister, Marjorie Boughan; and three brothers-in-law, Cliff Baker, Ed Roberts and George Boughan. In keeping with James' wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Chris Taylor officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro with military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Aleda E.
