James M. Biggert age 66 of Columbiaville and Pinnebog died Sunday afternoon, June 15, McLaren Lapeer after a long fight with diabetes.
He was born October 2,1947 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to the late Jesse and Annie Mae (Clark) Biggert and moved to the Flint area with his family, when he was 12 years old.
After high school, Jim joined the US Marines for four years, with 18 months service in Vietnam
.
On April 18, 1970, he was united in marriage to Betty-Jean Fleming at the Chandler Presbyterian Church, north of Elkton.
Jim was a Plumber/ Pipefitter by trade, he was employed at JR Controls, Southfield over 20 years and 10 years with Detroit Broach before retiring for health reasons.
Jim was an avid hunter and golfer and enjoyed camping and being out of doors. He and Betty enjoyed spending winters in Sebring, Florida He was a member of the 40 ET8 Lapeer, American Legion Post 16, Lapeer and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4139, Lapeer.
Surviving are his wife, Betty-Jean; a son David Biggert; grandson, Zachary; a brother, Joe Biggert of Shelby Twp.; two sisters, Barbara (Doug) Calhoun and Jackie (Jim) Powell both of Flint and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a nephew, Jimmy Powell.
Funeral services will be conducted 5:00 PM Monday, June 23, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Kathy Grimes, pastor of the Chandler Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM Monday.
Military honors will be provided by the Elkton VFW Post #6013.
