James T. Bondy

James T. Bondy of Mayville, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born June 19, 1934 in Detroit, the son of the late Donald & Gertrude (Krawczak) Bondy. After graduating from Detroit Pershing High School, he went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army. On September 29, 1967, Jim married the former Diana Christophersen and together the couple cherished nearly fifty-five years of marriage. He worked as a police officer for the city of Detroit for thirty-two years, retiring in 1992. Known as a handyman, Jim put his skill and enjoyment of woodworking to use and built both his retirement home in Mayville and a summer home in DeTour. In addition to woodworking, he loved to fish, play cards, and spend time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diana Bondy of Mayville; his daughters and their spouses, Juliana & Tom Meidl of Rochester, and Jackie & Patrick Kane of Springport; and three grandchildren, Sophie, Max, and Lydia Meidl. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by three siblings, Don Bondy, Doris Danner, and George Bondy. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
