James Joseph Bukoski of Caro, age 79, passed away on April 26, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family. Jim was born March 10, 1945 in Bad Axe, the son of the late Sylvester and Bernice (Wroubel) Bukoski. He graduated from Ubly High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On September 28, 1968, Jim married the love of his life, the former Doreen M. Messing at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, Michigan. He worked for General Motors as a machine operator for over thirty-one years, retiring in 1998. Jim was a huge outdoorsman, he loved cutting and splitting wood, deer hunting, gardening, and watching the birds. He enjoyed listening to polka music and watching the Detroit Lions & Tigers. Jim’s family was his heart and soul, time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over fifty-five years, Doreen; children & their spouses, James & Aimee Bukoski, Jennifer & Gregg Campbell, and Deanna & Brian Moore; grandchildren, Isiah & Rochelle Bukoski, Dylan Torres, Elise & Erik Torres, Davon Jahr, Emelie Jahr, Shauna & Nathan Brinkman, Kaila & Charles Gray, Michael Salcido, Colt & Carly Campbell, Carissa Moore, Hunter Moore, and A.J. Moore; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol & Melvin Sharbowski and Deb Schmidt. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Harry Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro. Rev. Christopher Coman will officiate with cremation to follow. Military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7. Jim’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro and again on Monday, at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. A Rosary will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Time of Remembrance. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the St. Christopher Parish Food Pantry or New Hope Thrift Shop.
