James M. Calaway

James M. Calaway , age 88, of Sebewaing, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at McLaren Thumb Region Hospital in Bad Axe.

James was born on August 1, 1933, in Mecca, Ohio, to Howard and Marion (Simpson) Calaway. He graduated from Kent High School and then served in the United States Air Force for four years. Jim worked for United Technologies as a plant manager and retired in 1997. Jim was a lifetime member at the American Legion Post #376 in Ohio. He and his wife, Faye, enjoyed antiquing and had 2 antique booths. Jim also enjoyed fishing, working puzzles and building huge, detailed doll houses.

James is survived by his wife, Faye; children: Larry (Maurita) Nimtz, David (Kathy) Nimtz and Duane (Lori) Nimtz; 10 grandchildren: Shaun, Shannon, Morgan, Jessica, Kyle, Brooke, Joshua, John, James and Justin; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gordon (Constance) Calaway.

A private burial service will take place.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Legion or Thumb Animal Shelter.
