James Andrew Calley, age 53, of Caro passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at his residence. He was born on November 8, 1956 in Brazil to Royal and the late Helen (Lundberg) Calley. During his infancy, his mother died during a flu outbreak and his father and the remainder of his family came back to the United States to live in Detroit. His father, Royal, then married the former Betty Reed in Dearborn Heights and moved to Caro. Jim was a Caro High School graduate and had attended college. He worked a number of years in Washington D.C. in the banking industry and returned to Michigan in later years to work for New York Carpet World as a manager. Most recently, he returned to Caro for family health considerations. He was well versed in computers and working with his hands. In early years he enjoyed playing both the piano and trumpet. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caro. He is survived by his parents, Royal and Betty (Reed) Calley of Caro; five siblings, Royal Jr. (Marilyn) Calley of Brooklyn, Dianne Manzo of Fenton, Mary Calley of Caro, Doyle (Kathy) Calley of Lyons, and Sally (Jack) Thomas of Charlotte Hall, Maryland; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home.
