James Casey

James D. Casey, age 59, passed away suddenly at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, July 17, 2009. James was born February 28, 1950 in Bad Axe, the son of James Daniel & Joyce M. Casey, and graduated from Bad Axe High School with the class of 1968. Following graduation, he served in Viet Nam with the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. Jim was united in marriage with the former Dorothy Robinson on November 6, 1971 in Pigeon, and the couple cherished more than thirty-seven years together. He was employed as a lineman with Thumb Electric for over thirty years, retiring in May of 2007. Jim was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, Caro American Legion Post #7, Caro Moose Lodge #1049 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 17. He will be best remembered as a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren, celebrating his Irish heritage, hunting, fishing, gardening and working in the yard. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, James is survived by four children, Brenda Casey of Essexville, Kathy Kappen of Cass City, Tricia Casey of Caro and James Casey of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren, Ahrion Davenport, Kaylyn, Karly and Gabriel Kappen; his mother, Joyce M. Casey of Kinde; nine siblings and their spouses, Maureen & Bill Fealko of Caro, Jean & Tony Krinkie of Bad Axe, Barbara & Gerry Smaglinski of Shelbyville, Indiana, Kathy & Dave Koroleski of Kinde, Dan & Sue Casey of Sault Ste. Marie, Joan & Dennis Bushey of Bad Axe, Patrick & Sue Casey of Gaylord, Lori & Dave Matthews of Bad Axe, Lisa & Chris Shepherd of Harbor Beach; one sister-in-law and her husband, Margaret & Bob Dean of Bad Axe; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his faithful companion, Peanut. He was preceded in death by his father, James Daniel Casey; father-in-law, Al Robinson; mother-in-law, Lucille Robinson-Snyder; and brother-in-law, Al “Butch” Robinson.
