James R. Devroye, 85, a lifelong Caseville resident, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Scheurer Health in Pigeon.
Jim was born December 23, 1938 in Caseville to the late Robert and Mary (Maillette) Devroye. He attended Pigeon High School and enlisted in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He married Beverly Spencer on September 8, 1962 at the Caseville Methodist Church; she preceded him in death on December 30, 2007.
Jim retired from Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a signalman. He then opened Huron Antenna and Marine, which then became JD Repair. He was a member of Cass City Gun Club where he competed in skeet shooting, and the Caseville Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and woodworking.
Jim is survived by Mary (Doug) Ziel of Caseville and Michael (Janet) Devroye of Pigeon; grandsons Justin (Ashley Kidd) and Tyler. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings: Catherine Hazard, Mildred Caster, Hazel Mintz, Bertha Cilc, Mary Ellen McGarvey, and Robert Devroye.
Visitation will be Noon to 6:00pm Sunday, August 25th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery.
