James Camille Deweerdt

James Camille Deweerdt of Caro, age 74, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at his home. James was born September 10, 1950 in Royal Oak, the son of the late Robert & Ethel (Sopfe) Deweerdt. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he built a career as a skilled diesel mechanic. On June 28, 1975, he married Kathy Jane Lawitzke in Royal Oak. Together, they shared nearly forty-five years of marriage until her passing on August 25, 2020. James had a lifelong interest in cars and enjoyed watching Western movies in his spare time.

James is survived by one son, James Robert Deweerdt; two grandchildren, Winter Jane and August; siblings and their spouses, Thomas (Cheryl) Deweerdt, Kevin (Jeanne) Deweerdt, Carol (James) Ross, and Linda Reedo; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with James’ wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
