James (Jim) Dunn of Caseville passed away peacefully on May 24 after a relentless battle with multiple conditions. He was 78.
Jim was born in Detroit to James and Dorothy Dunn and grew up in St. Clair Shores. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Jerry Michael, his son Jim, and son-in-law Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diana, daughter Kim and son Shawn as well as his younger brother Danny (wife Kathy), and sister-in-law Susie Dunn. Jim was very proud of his three grandsons Zachary, Ultan, and Bodie and always looked forward to seeing them.
After high school, Jim worked in the family gas station and with GTW railroad until moving to Caseville in 1973. He then worked at the Caseville lumber yard and car dealers in Bad Axe and Pigeon. He later owned a landscaping business and worked for Viviano Flowers where he managed large-scale displays at numerous car shows and golf tournaments in several states until retirement.
Jim considered himself a true Irishman and was gifted with the blarney which made him a well known storyteller among family and friends. During retirement, he enjoyed golf and served as a board member at Scenic Golf and Country Club. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch and, most of all, knowing Diana was always by his side. A memorial service is being planned for August 2 at Scenic Golf and Country Club.
